Text Box: Cost Estimating (AND ESTIMATE CONVERSION TO ORDERS): Critical part of the system - many other parts flow out of the estimate data. Two Functions of Cost Estimating: Estimate is a hierarchy of Display, Components, Processes. A Display is comprised of a list of components.   Each component has a list of processes to create the component.   A process is the material and labor needed for production.   The estimate in total contains the bill of material and the labor operations needed to manufacture the unit.   It also contains the tooling, instruction sheets, and other costs such as Spec and Freight. Estimate Conversion to Order - produces the customer order, order acknowledgment letter, purchase requisitions which become purchase orders, plant orders and work tickets, scheduling, machine production, finishing, shipping, billing, job cost recap records, etc.  Eliminates large data entry task as required by other systems. Cost Tables: Waste figure included in calculation Simple Estimate entry - enter components, processes to produce components, purchases. Multiple Quantities - accurate Cost Estimating generated for multiple quantities. Multiple Versions - "what if" estimating for different versions - i.e. various number up on sheet, test with parts run together or separate, etc. Various report formats - summary or detail, cost by component, total cost and until cost option, etc. ____P.O.P.S.S.____
